Cookie Policy
Last updated: 14 April 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit.
We also use localStorage, a browser storage mechanism that works similarly to cookies but is not sent to the server with each request.
2. Cookies We Use
Audio Battles uses only strictly necessary cookies. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies. We do not use any third-party cookies.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Session cookie that keeps you logged in during your browser session. Strictly necessary for the Platform to function. | Session (deleted when you close your browser) |
| REMEMBERME | Persistent login cookie, only set if you explicitly tick "Remember me" on the login page. | 7 days |
3. Local Storage
We store one item in your browser's localStorage:
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| theme | Stores your dark/light mode preference (dark or light). Functional, never sent to our server. |
Persistent (until you clear browser data) |
This localStorage entry is set on your device only and is used purely for display purposes. It does not identify you and is never transmitted to our servers.
4. Why No Consent Banner?
Under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you have explicitly requested do not require prior consent. Our session cookie (PHPSESSID) falls into this category. The remember-me cookie (REMEMBERME) is only set when you actively choose it.
Because we use no analytics, advertising, or non-essential third-party cookies, we are not required to display a consent banner. This policy is how we meet our transparency obligation.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings:
- Block all cookies — note that blocking the session cookie will prevent you from logging in.
- Delete existing cookies at any time via your browser's privacy settings.
- Clear localStorage via your browser's developer tools or privacy settings.
6. Third-Party Services
Audio Battles does not embed any third-party widgets, analytics services, social media buttons, or advertising networks. No third-party cookies are set by our Platform.
